A Masterclass in Interior Styling by Ajay Arya x Lladro
Design maven Ajay Arya unveiled a new dimension of interior styling at his freshly designed studio for @ochreathome, where contemporary aesthetics seamlessly merge with heritage influences. The space is a harmonious dialogue between tradition and modernity, brought to life through a thoughtful curation of art, form, and function.
Stepping into the studio, visitors are greeted by a striking hand-painted wall, awash in hues of indigo, peach, and Indian red brick. Adorned with stenciled white huts inspired by the Shantiniketan style and reminiscent of Alpana art from Bengal, this mural sets a poetic tone for the space. It forms the perfect backdrop for Jaime Hayon’s ‘The Guest’ series—this edition reinterpreted by French artist Camille Walala, whose bold patterns create a vivid interplay of ethnic artistry and modern drama.
Ajay brings his signature finesse by layering art throughout the studio to create depth and balance, accentuated with vivid Lladró porcelain objects that inject a pop of color. Classic sculptures are reimagined with modern finishes and forms, seamlessly integrated into an earthy palette of greys and beiges.
In the study, Lladró’s horse sculptures transform the space into a refined sanctuary—elegant, artistic, and serene. This contemplative corner transitions into a playful lounge, where a wall of bold Lladró animal masks introduces whimsical energy. The space dances between light and sculpture, with porcelain lighting and imaginative pieces like The Guest and a Mummy Panda with Babies submerged halfway in water, offering both tranquility and a touch of humor.
The hand-painted bar area opens into a moody, intimate zone illuminated by the Firefly cordless lamp. Its soft glow reflects off surreal Toucan-inspired glassware, sculpted in Lladró’s signature glossy porcelain, adding a final flourish of magic.
